Interview
from Hungarian Posthuman zine issue 2 (June 2009)

-
- 1) Hi
Filip! How are you today? Let’s start! The first questions are usual
ones, as the first one: please tell me the whole story of See you in
hell, from the beginning!
- Hi
David, thanx a lot for your interest in our band! When doing an
interview for Hungarian zine, I have to mention right in the beginning
that we have already played in your country, but it was really long
time ago! First time in March 2001 together w/HUMAN ERROR, DIN-ADDICT,
BANDANAS and MINDLOCK in Budapest - this show was great! And then
again year later in March 2002 in Gödölö w/FROM ASHES RISE, Y etc.
- this show sucked shit as there were almost no people at all and our
car had some heavy technical problems... also the organizers were not
very helpful and it was pretty fucked up day in general.
- Anyway,
SEE YOU IN HELL started back in 1999 and the line-up was almost the
same as today: Jozka - vocals, Tom - bass, me on guitar and used to
have different drummer back then. Since mid 2002 local scene veteran
Beno plays drums in SEE YOU IN HELL. We have also tried several second
guitar-players and currently we have David playing with us
occasionally as a guest.
- In
the beginning we have played little different style - it was still
hardcore, but more chaotic/metallic and experimental, as we used to be
influenced by bands like CATHARSIS, RORSCHACH, ORCHID, REVERSAL OF
MAN, ECONOCHRIST or BORN AGAINST. When SEE YOU IN HELL started, my old
band MRTVA BUDOUCNOST was still active and I wanted to play something
little different than the extreme hardcore/crust butchery we played
with M.B.! Since 2002 with our drummer’s change also our style
changed drastically. It became more straight forward, more direct and
more furious raw hardcore/thrash/punk! Today we are influenced by
great classic Japanese hardcore bands like DEATHSIDE, FORWARD,
LIBERATE, ASSFORT, JUDGEMENT, PAINTBOX, GAUZE, WARHEAD, GOUKA or D.S.B.
(but of course we are not so good like them, haha!).
- SEE
YOU IN HELL released demo 2000, split EP w/MINDLOCK, full EP, split EP
w/THE PUBLIC, split EP w/MASSGENOCIDE PROCESS, „Umet se prodat“
(„Market Your Self“) LP/CD/tape, „Utok“ {„Attack“} LP/CD/tape,
split EP (soon on miniCD too) w/CROW. We are also on many compilation
tapes/CDs/vinyls, some of them are for example „Global Hardcore
Noise“ double EP comp. and „Barbaric Thrash Demolition“
double-CD + EP (both released in California) or on these two
compilation, which I put together - „Dying Alive/Living Dead“ LP
{w/12 Czech bands, released in 2003} and „Spalte Brno na prach“
(w/12 raw HC/punk bands from our city, released in 2008). Both our
albums were re-released on different formats (mostly CD/Cdr) all over
the world in countries like Mexico, Japan, Belarus, Russia, Macedonia,
Spain, Malaysia or Indonesia.
- We
have toured Europe few times and also Japan (2006) and Brazil (2007)
and of course played many gigs all over the Czech Rep. In total we
have played more than 200 gigs so far.
-
- 2) I saw
on your website, that each members had many other bands before SYIH.
What kind of music was these? All HC/crust stuffs, or metal, or what?
- Beno
used to play in LOS SOMMROS (raw HC/crust), NO PASARAN (antifascist oi/punk),
OPERACE ARTABAN (apolitical oi), HOLOKIN KOLOKIN (folk punk). Tom used
to play in BLEDA ZAVIST (punk rock) and GASCHAMBER (metal/HC). David
used to play in KARL MARX (old school emo), THEMA 11 (dark emo/HC) and
now plays also in MOTHER (ex-THEMA 11) and TUMMO (heavy HC/rocknroll).
And I used to play in MRTVA BUDOUCNOST.
-
- 3) Now,
please introduce me the members! What kind of music do they like, what
are their hobbies, what do they working/ studying?
- Beno
is the oldest (37 I think), he has two daughters and works as
pharmacist, has a huge collection of Czechoslovakian hardcore/punk/metal
vinyls. Tom has one son, works in laboratory, enjoys drinking huge
amounts of beer and also makes his own beer in total DIY way! Jozka
has one daughter, he is a huge tattoo fan, works as train conductor
and lives 60 km away from Brno, in Breclav-city. David lives now in
the capital city Prague, 200 km away from Brno. He is very busy with
his other bands and works for some University I think. And I have two
daughters, I work as social lawyer for poor Roma people and for
junkies, I also do Hluboka orba zine, Network Of Friends newsletter
and sometimes help with various eco/social/political activities here
in Brno.
- Except
David we are all very active with gig organizing here in Brno under
the United Crusties name (since 2003 we did more than 70 gigs) and
except David we are all huge fans of Japanese hardcore/punk scene!
-
- 4) You
have two „extra” guests: David 11 (in live), and Zelinka (in
studio). Why do you need these members? Cause of the sound?
- Yes,
of course because of the sound, but Zelinka is not playing with us
anymore, he did few solos on our LPs back then, now David helps us. As
I said, he is very busy, so live he plays with us usually on tours
only and of course in studio as well. He has some great ideas for 2nd
guitar melodies, which improve our music a lot.
-
- 5) Do the
members any other project near the SYIH? You have a label/ fanzine,
called Hluboká orba. Tell me some things about this! What is it mean:
„Hluboká orba”? How many issues do you had from the zine? How,
and what bands do you supported as a label?
- Except
David we have no other bands. I think it is best to fully concentrate
on one band and also I think we are all super-busy with SEE YOU IN
HELL and our personal lives.
- I
started Hluboka Orba zine back in 1993 and till now 27 issues were put
out. The zine is in Czech language and since issue 1 it focuses on DIY
hardcore/punk and political stuff. I am especially interested in far
away “exotic” scenes and I print scene reports from various cities
from all over the world and also long tour reports from Czech bands on
the road. Last issue was put out in the end of 2008 and I slowly start
to work on new one. During the recent years I am able to put out only
1 issue every 1-2 years, but on the other hand last few issues are not
a typical zine, but more something like huge book in soft-cover, 200
pages thick and with print run of 600-800 copies.
- Hluboka
Orba Records started also back in the 90’s with some tape releases,
later I co-released some M.B.’s and SEE YOU IN HELL’s stuff and
few years ago I decided to support also the other Czech bands when I
joined some cooperation releasing vinyls like RISPOSTA LP, TIME OF MY
LIFE/STOLEN LIVES split EP or DEMARCHE EP. You should know that most
of the records released in Czech and Slovakia are released in
cooperation of like 5, 10 or even more of small labels, who put their
money together and then press 500-1000 copies of the record. This is a
great way of releasing new records, in very friendly, cooperative and
DIY way! Recently I have no time to continue with Hluboka Orba Records
as I decided to concentrate more on the other activities, especially
the gig organizing along with my friends in SYIH.
- United
Crusties gig collective is our huge activity since 2003, we book shows
almost every month here in Brno (especially in the Yacht Club,
sometimes in our practice room as well, soon also in Vegalite -
vegetarian restaurant). We did gigs for bands from Russia, Japan,
Brazil, USA, Canada, Argentina, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany... for
dozens and dozens of Czech and Slovakian bands as well. You can see
the full list of our gigs in the booklet of “Spalte Brno na prach”
compilation. In last 2 years we did gigs for example for ARMAGEDOM,
VIVISICK, D.S.B., ACTIVE MINDS, YAKUZA HORROR, HELLBASTARD, MOB 47,
CAPITALIST CASUALTIES, BLOODY PHOENIX etc. Soon we will do gigs for
LOBOTOMIA, GIVE UP ALL HOPE, HELLSHOCK... we are very lucky as we have
few great gig-places here in Brno and huge support from the punx,
crusties and thrashers! There are almost always 100-150 people on
every gig we organize and really wild, but friendly atmosphere. We
also publish free Network Of Friends newsletter with info about gigs
taking the place in Brno - in cooperation with other crews like Friday
Night Kids, Loser Crew or U.P.H.
-
- 6) About
the band’s name: Who you want to see
in hell?
- The
name was never directed against somebody in particular, it was more
something like “we are collectively fucked as a humankind and we are
doomed and destined to die” - something like my old band’s name
MRTVA BUDOUCNOST, which means “Dead Future” in English.
-
- 7) Tell
me some words about the lyrics! They have heavy message, express it
with examples!
- Our
older lyrics (until cca 2003/2004) were more depressive painting
pretty hopeless and black picture of the reality surrounding us -
stuff like alienation, loneliness, communication breakdown, machines
and faceless institutions taking over the human... newer lyrics are
more encouraging to fight back, to use your energy and knowledge to go
on and never give up.
-
- 8) The
lyrics are in Czech, but you always write the translation of each song
in English. It’s appears in your early band, the „Mrtvá
budoucnost”. Why? Cause of the fans in other countries? Or you bore
that everybody asking about the lyrics?
- Yes,
the lyrics are important to us and we want them to be understood also
by people who do not speak Czech language. You can read the English
translations on our website and make your own mind. Some of our
releases (esp. in more “exotic” countries) have also the lyrics
translated to Japanese, Russian or Spanish language.
-
- 9) Do you
plan English written songs? Why?
- No.
We can express the best our ideas and feelings in our mother-language.
We also like when bands do sing in their language - Italian bands,
Finnish bands, Brazilian bands, Spanish bands... more diversity in
hardcore/punk! Also the English written lyrics by bands who can not
speak English well sometimes suck.
-
- 10) You
always get out your albums in LP. Do you prefer Lp or tape near the
CD? What is your favorite audio format- LP, CD or tape?
- Vinyl
is definitely our favorite format! I like the huge cover artwork,
booklets etc. You can be much more creative with LP or EP artwork than
with CDs, who are just lifeless and plastic piece of shit. Also vinyl
sounds better for this kind of music, not so sterile digital sound
like CD’s and more fresh.
-
- 11) Do
you collect music? Or you aren’t says yourself a collector, do you
often buy music? What was the last album that you buy?
- Yes,
I am a huge record collector since early 90s, I have also huge
collection of tapes (more than 1000 tapes), but in recent years are
tapes almost extinct species. I buy from 90% vinyls and only very
occasionally CD’s. I like different kinds of hardcore/punk, but I
would say that my biggest obsession is Japanese hardcore/punk (from
traditional „Burning Spirits” style to raw punk/crust shit),
exotic hardcore/punk (everything on Tian An Men 89 and Darbouka
Records), lots of Eastern European hardcore/punk, Latino-American
hardcore/punk, old school grindcore, noisecore, 80’s US hardcore
style, fastcore/thrash, lots of Czech bands from 80’s and from today
as well... well, I like tons of music! Maybe it would be easier to
write down styles which I dislike, haha... shit like modern „tough
guy mosh/metal/HC”, Fat Wrack/Epitaph Rec. melodic crap,
experimental/technical grindcore, folk-punk, ska-punk, modern „stoner
rock/sludge”... I also hate 99% of commercial crap on major labels
and trendy music in general...
- Speaking
about records, is there somebody in Hungary who could record me on
tape or burn on CDr this classic „Vilag Lazadoi Harcra Fel!”
compilation EP released in France back in 1985??? (+ xerocopy the
cover and insert for me!). I would be really grateful and I could
record you some killer 80’s Czechoslovakian hardcore/punk in trade!
Also I am looking for 80’s recordings (tape is OK) by bands like CPG,
ETA, FELGYELEM, KRETENS, QSS, TROTTEL (only the 80’s punk stuff, not
the later jazz/experimental style!), please don’t hesitate to
contact me, if you can help! I need to expand my old Hungarian punk
collection (I have old tapes by HISTERIA, A.M.D., AURORA, PROSECTURA
etc.)!
- The
last record I bought... well I have always got many records through
record trading with people from all over the globe as I find this more
punk and more DIY than to simply buy stuff... Well, this week I got
some new EP’s released on Too Circle Records and I really enjoyed EP
by this new Japanese band SPY MASTER as they sound very similar to
80’s Boston band JERRYS KIDS, which I love!
-
- 12) Tell
me some things about your new album, the Útok!.
- „Utok”
was released already back in 2006 on LP and digipack CD in cooperation
of Phobia and Insane Society Records, later we did Japanese CD press
on Too Circle and also pro-copied
tape press in Malaysia + some CDr editions in some other
countries. The vinyl LP comes with nice gatefold cover and the artwork
was done by one of the best Czech comix artists. „Utok” has 8
songs of raw, angry, straight-forward hardcore/punk. Some people say
it’s “too primitive” or “too monotonous”, but we are all
really tired by all these senseless crazy experiments and older we are
the more we prefer simple and aggressive hardcore/punk. So if you are
looking for some crazy musical artistic experience, please look
somewhere else, OK?
-
- 13) Who
you want to attack?
- Nobody...
Name of this song (LP is named after song called „Utok”) and the
lyrics are not directed towards anything or anyone in particular. This
song is about being strong and going straight-forward to reach your
goals and to fulfill your dreams. So maybe we want to attack ourselves?
-
- 14) In
the Czech Republic there are many excellent band, and a kind of cult,
tradition of the extreme music (begins with the death/black/thrash
metal, cross the grindcore, to the Hc/ punk ect. ect.) What do you
think, what are the causes of this?
- I
don’t know... well, Czech Rep. has a long tradition of extreme music
dating back to the 80’s, when it was of course not easy to play in
punk or metal band due to state’s oppression. Bands had to play most
of the time secret shows, only home-dubbed tapes were released, there
was no chance to release a record, to tour abroad or to see foreign
bands playing live here until 1989. So punk, hardcore, metal and rock
music in general was seen as a protest music against the Communist
system and many people took an active part in it. You should check out
some recordings of 80’s hardcore/punk bands like RADEGAST, H.N.F., A
64, TELEX, F.P.B., MODRE TANKY, PLEXIS or S.M.S., or if you are into
thrash/black/speed metal check out demos by ROOT, DEBUSTROL, MASTERS
HAMMER, KRYPTOR, KRABATHOR... By the way I wrote a book about the
history of punk in Czechoslovakia before 1989, it is called “Kytary
a rev” (“Guitars And Screams”) and soon there will be 5th
pressing of it since it’s always quickly sold out.
- After
1989 there were all kind of different bands starting, also new zines,
labels, distros, many foreign bands started to play here (from Hungary
esp. TROTTEL many times!). From the early/mid 90’s Czechoslovakian
hardcore/punk scene I would totally recommend records and tapes by
HEARTLINE, KRITICKA SITUACE, NONCONFORMIST, CUL DE SAC, ROPNEY
PRODUKT, LOS SOMMROS, L SAN GORE, STRES, HOW LONG?, TELEFON, HELL ON
EARTH, COMPLICITE CANDIDE... later, in the end of the 90’s and
beginning of new century also stuff by LIES AND DISTRUST, HOMO
CONSUMENS, MINDLOCK, NESOUCAST STROJE, AD CALENDAS GRAECAS, DREAD 101,
MASSGENOCIDE PROCESS, FOOLOCRACY... Today there are dozens and dozens
of killer bands and I am sure you know many of them - SHEEVA YOGA,
GRIDE, PRUMYSLOVA
SMRT, SAY WHY?, RISPOSTA, EVIDENCE SMRTI, NEEDFUL THINGS, RABIES,
DEMARCHE, MAD PIGS, HIBAKUSHA, V.O.H., ZEMEZLUC, DISNEY, SCARTO,
TOMORROWS HELL, INNOXIA CORPORA, STOLEN LIVES, RED INSECT, DEZINFEKCE,
LAHAR, 6MAS, RUCE PO OBRNE, KORUBO, AGE OF DEATH, SVINE!, KOBRA 11,
RADIOLOKATOR...
-
- 15) I
think about the photos, that you are very intense live. Tell me a
concert story!
- When
the music is intense and the audience is crazy, strange things can
happen sometimes... but usually it is just our singer hurting himself...
well, sometimes there’s a blood on the stage (don’t worry usually
only his own blood, haha!).
-
- 16) Seems
from the pictures, that you like jumping…
- Sometimes
yes.
-
- 17) Do
you like parties after the show?
- Yes,
sometimes... well, most of the time.
-
- 18) What
was the biggest audience that you played in a concert? Where was it?
- We
don’t care so much about playing in front of huge crowds. We have
played Obscene Extreme and Fluff Fest back in 2002, so these were
probably our biggest audiences, although we sucked totally at both
these gigs as these were the very first SYIH’s shows with our new
drummer and we were not so tight and aggressive yet. We have also
played at Play Fast Or Don’t Fest in 2007 and 2008 - there were
probably more than 500 people each time I think and it went great both
times. Play Fast is definitely our fave Czech festival }check out www.playfast.cz
for this year)! Also in Brazil we have played at huge thrash/punk fest
in Londrina for couple of hundreds people and at another one - open
air near Porto Alegre with hundreds of punx too.
-
- 19) Did
you play in big festivals, like Obscene extreme? What do you prefer, a
gig in a small pub/squat, or an open aired festival? What’s feeling
do you like better?
- We
play mostly only small shows for like 50-100 people max. These shows
suits hardcore/punk style the best and personally I don’t feel too
comfortable at big festivals with huge stage, security, many assholes
in the pit (this is usually inevitable at big events) etc. I don’t
go there as a visitor anymore (last time I was at Obscene Extreme was
in 2002) and don’t like too much to play them as well. Small shows
in crazy places like practice rooms, garages or living rooms etc. are
the best.
-
- 20)
There are bands, who play their songs faster in a gig, than their
studio recordings. Seems for me about your stuff, that the SYIH, and
your old band, the Mrtvá budoucnost are bands like this. Please
confirm, or confute this statement!
- Hahaha,
you are totally right! When the energy level is high on stage, it is
sometimes an uncontrollable chaos, haha! With MRTVA BUDOUCNOST it used
to be even worse, since the backline back in the 90’s really sucked,
just small combos, shitty drums, shitty instruments... fucked up mess!
Today it is way better.
-
- 21) You
are the ex-member of my favorite band, the Mrtvá Budoucnost. Man,
congratulation to this production, day by day i hear every album, and
i can’t bore it, so fucking aggressive, phantasiphul and raw musick-
and its lyrics are totally bull’s eyes! As I don’t know (and maybe
the readers aren’t) much about this band, ask some quests!
- Haha,
this is really crazy to hear, thanx! As far as I remember back in the
times, when MRTVA BUDOUCNOST existed, we had absolutely no contacts to
Hungary and I don’t remember even one band playing something similar
to our style in your country back in the 90’s... I know that today
it is different with bands like HUMAN ERROR, JACK, STEP ON IT or
GYALAZAT, but back then I remember only punk rock, NYHC or weird
experimental bands coming from Hungary. But never mind, I am really
glad that you like my old band so much!
-
- 22) What
was the cause of your splitting up?
- Stagnation,
getting tired of each other, lack of motivation, no future at all...
we were together for 6 years and simply could not move forward. We
released many records (2 split LP’s, 3 split EP’s, tons of tapes,
compilations etc.) and toured Europe few times, which were all huge
achievements for an Eastern European punk band back in the 90’s...
some of our vinyls were released in USA, which was totally crazy for
us back then as we were huge fans of US extreme HC/power violence
bands like HELLNATION, INFEST, CAPITALIST CASUALTIES, SUPPRESSION, NO
COMMENT or CROSSED OUT!
- I
think we split up on good terms, we agreed to play couple of last
shows in April 2000 and then went our separate ways. Ex-members of
MRTVA BUDOUCNOST later played (in some cases still play) in bands like
LYCANTHROPHY, MY DEAD CAT, FESTA DESPERATO, PANGS OF REMORSE, EVIDENCE
SMRTI and of course SEE YOU IN HELL. I am sure that we are still good
friends with most of the ex-members, we see each other quite often at
shows here in Brno. Marek used our practice room with FESTA DESPERATO
and Korda comes quite often to vegan barbecues at my garden, haha...
-
- 23) You
didn’t get out CD, only DIY tape, or vinyl. What was the cause of
this? In this way, it stays a music to a special audience?
- Back
in the 90’s we were strongly against CDs as it was shitty overpriced
format with „plastic” sound and boring manufactured packaging.
Vinyl records always had more soul for us. Today you can manufacture
and sell CDs for really cheap, you can burn them at home and the
general interest towards any material formats (be it vinyl, tape or
CD) drastically decreases as everybody downloads like crazy today. So
back then MRTVA BUDOUCNOST did no CDs, because we were against them.
We were included only on one CD compilation - „Falafel Grind” on
Obscene Prod. (comp. CD of CRIPPLE BASTARDS cover songs) and later
somebody in America bootleged two our tapes on CDr.
-
- 24) The
covers are always black and white, or xeroxed ones, the artwork in
these is very minimalist. Why didn’t you made colored, tapes? Ok, it’s
not problem, i also like better the DIY, raw, amateur covers (as the
compilation tape that i made near the zine is a same shit…), but i
ask the cause of this.
- Raw
black and white graphics suited our musical style and our lyrics best,
I don’t know what else to say about it... this is punk rock, not
some fancy artistic crap...
-
- 25) Now i
ask about Mrtvá… songs.
- Why did
you dislike the skaters? ( Antiskate song):
- This
was song against trendy fuckers, not against skaters in general.
-
- George
Orwell has a famous (and a great, classical- i recommend it!) book,
the 1984. The Mrtvá Budoucnost have a song called 2084.
Do any similarity in this title? I mean, you write this song about
this book? Or am I wrong?
- MRTVA
BUDOUCNOST was obviously influenced by Orwell, you can find this in
some of our lyrics (incl. „2084”) and we also had T-shirt with
quote taken directly from his most famous book: „If you want to see
the vision of the future imagine steel boot stomping on human face
forever.”
-
- The „Teror
davu” is a song about terrorism?
- No,
this song was against hooligans and against senseless mass-violence in
general. Although I have to admit that some of us took a place in some
crowd violence back in the 90’s as well, but it was always for the
good political purposes only, haha!
-
- Why „don’t
need your fucking shelter?” hahaha. Ok, in seriously, why do you
dislike the Krisna religion? Or this song (No
shelter) is againts the Shelter band?
- Yes,
this song was against Hare Krishna and this band SHELTER in particular.
Religion is the opium of the masses and refugee of the fools.
-
- Do you
had any conflict in a concert, that you wrote a song about the hard-
moshing people?
( Stop)
- Yes,
it has happened few times, especially in the beginning of MRTVA
BUDOUCNOST „career”, when we have sometimes played shows with more
like „77 punk” style bands, but it was nothing too serious. Well,
once we got some bottles thrown at us when we supported OI POLLOI in
Brno in 1995... I think that the level of our preaching from the stage
was unbearable for some people in the audience, haha.
-
- Do
anybody smoked in this band?( the Zasraná
ignorance is a song against smoking cigarettes). Do you had any
conflict with other, smoker fans about this song? Or in a concert?
- “Fucking
Ignorance” was one of our very first songs and for sure the most
controversial one! You know, when you sing against nazis, vivisection,
cops etc. (we did as well!), everybody is OK with this, but when you
point the finger at the behavior of people in the hardcore/punk scene,
they get sometimes very upset. This song was very straight-forward
attack against smoking and against the hypocrisy of smokers. Obviously
many people hated us because of it, while many other applauded us for
it. Back then in the 90’s I am sure that no person in MRTVA
BUDOUCNOST smoked cigarettes otherwise we would not play this song at
all! We were/tried to be really strict also towards ourselves, like
being vegetarians, non-smokers, some of us straight edge, supporting
various political causes/protests, doing benefits, direct actions etc.
etc. Also we took really strong stance against commercialization of
hardcore/punk scene, when we did openly criticized bands and labels
for selling out and we have always strictly promoted D.I.Y. principles.
- So
as you can see, on one hand we went really straight and without
compromise to fight for the things we believed, but on the other hand
this made us also many enemies and isolated us from many people. Also
for some ex-members this hard stance was too much to bear and few of
them later became apolitical/patriotic skinheads and some of them had
completely vanished from DIY hardcore/punk scene. But you should bear
in mind that M.B. started 15 years ago, while we were all teenagers -
so it is pretty long time and people sometimes do change drastically.
I still believe in 99% of things MRTVA BUDOUCNOST preached back then.
By the way, when we organize gigs here in Brno today with United
Crusties, we always ask people to smoke outside and it works fine.
-
- The „Drogová
hysterie” is a song againts the drugs, or what?
- No,
it is song against war on drugs promoted esp. by right-wing Christian
fanatics. We were/are for total legalization of soft drugs immediately
and hard drugs one day maybe as well. But in no way we would promote
or advocate using of hard drugs, especially now, when I work with
junkies and ex-junkies, I see face to face how dangerous they are.
-
- 26) There’s
a funny (maybe) Czech folk/ pop song in many tapes- for example in the
„Worst of” tape, the „Mrtvá
budoucnost” song is ending with this. This melody is appears in
the „Only a good idol … is a
dead one” tape. What’s
this, is a soundtrack, or a pop song? Please tell me, I’m so curious!
- It
was our drummer, who always came with these silly songs taken usually
from classic Czechoslovakian films from the 60’s. The outro from our
demo tape comes from the „Lemonade Joe“, which is one of the most
famous Czech comedies ever, it is basically a parody on old American
westerns, really funny stuff!
-
- 27) There
were many members/ singers played in MB. What was the cause of this?
- At
the beginning back in 1994 when we started we had only one singer, but
soon we realized that dual vocals would suit us better since we liked
bands like DISRUPT or EXTREME NOISE TERROR a lot. So we got 2nd
vocalist and for a short while we even had 3 vocalists, when the
drummer’s girlfriend joined us as well (she sings on our split 7”
w/COEXIST). When the first line-up of M.B. split up in the end of
1995, only me, the second guitar player Ciko (who moved from guitar to
drums after this split) and only one of the 3 singers Korda were left.
We got 2 new guys in early 1996 - Marsta (2nd voc) and Marek (bass)
and this line-up continued till 1997, when Korda left and half year
later we got Rosi to do 2nd vocals... this was the final line-up of
MRTVA BUDOUCNOST from 1997 till 2000.
-
- 28) Ok
back to the present! And to the future hahaha! What are the plans of
SYIH? New album? Gigs?
- Yeah,
let the past be the past... sometimes
it’s cool to talk about these old times but the present and future
are obviously more important. MRTVA BUDOUCNOST is dead and buried!
- SEE
YOU IN HELL will tour Czech in August together with SOLID DECLINE from
Berlin and we will tour Brazil for second time this October. In
December we will organize another Killed By Brno Fest, this time
celebrating our 10 years anniversary.
- Planned
releases - currently we discuss possible split EP w/CONTRAST ATTITUDE
from Japan and also split picture LP with local punk as fuck heroes
MAD PIGS. Also I plan to compile „Spalte Brno na prach” LP Volume
2 with SEE YOU IN HELL and 13 other Brno-city bands again. In 2010 we
may tour Japan again, but if it fails we will tour Southern Europe as
we had great time in ex-Yugoslavia, Italy, Spain etc. on our last tour
in 2008. We will see.
